Let's hit the open road When I was in college...my friend, who was from Japan, asked why Americans are so crazy about cars. I laughed for a second, looked at the ceiling for another, and replied with a single word. FREEDOM. And all these years later it still stands true. I suppose it's always stood true...since the invention of the car. It's just another way to get from here to there, QUICKLY. My passion is for off-road vehicles. Jeeps, Trucks, etc. Of course I have an appropriate affection for classic muscle cars, but I feel most at home bouncing around on dirt trails somewhere in the back country. I've only owned 4 cars in my day...2 have been Jeeps (82 Cherokee, 88 Wrangler), one was a truck (my first "car" - 92 Toyota), and one was a 4-door sedan (which was a gift). 50% of the cars I've owned were stick shift, and I've been stuck, and helped others get unstuck, more times than I can possibly count. My idea of a fun afternoon would be hitting the open just to see where it leads. Yes, freedom...I was on to something there.
